Binish KK Home Automation (“I”, “me”) runs this website and offers home-automation guidance. I collect as little personal information as practical and handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
What I collect
When you send a guidance enquiry, I collect what you type into the form: your name, email address, and optionally your phone number and postcode, the topic you choose and your message. I do not ask for, and you should not send, passwords, access tokens, alarm codes, door codes or financial details.
For security and reliability the web server keeps short-lived technical logs (time of request, page requested, browser type and network address). For form rate limiting, network addresses are stored only as one-way hashes, not in readable form.
What I do not collect
This site has no analytics scripts, advertising cookies, tracking pixels, social-media widgets or third-party form service. The only thing your browser stores is your light or dark theme choice.
How your enquiry is used
Your details are used only to read and reply to your enquiry, to provide any guidance you ask for, and to keep a record of that conversation. I do not sell, rent or share your information for marketing, and I will not add you to a mailing list.
Where it is stored
Enquiries are stored on a server located in my home in Australia, not with a cloud form provider. The server is backed up nightly to a separate disk kept in the same home.
When an enquiry arrives, my phone receives a short alert that contains only a reference number and the topic you chose—not your name, contact details or message. That alert is delivered through the standard Apple and Google mobile push services.
The website is reached through Cloudflare, which protects it from abuse and briefly processes traffic (including network addresses) to do so. If we correspond by email, those messages are handled by our respective email providers.
How long it is kept
Enquiry records are deleted automatically 24 months after they are received, unless you ask me to delete them sooner or a longer period is required by law. Technical logs are rotated automatically and kept for a much shorter period.
Demo Lab
The Demo Lab page shows illustrative data. If it is ever connected to my own home, it will only show a small set of aggregated readings, such as solar and energy totals. It will never show cameras, locks, alarms, doors, presence or anything that indicates whether the house is occupied.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information I hold about you. Send a message through the enquiry form and mention that it concerns privacy. I will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with how a privacy concern is handled, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
